Knowing How To Lose Belly Fat Is More Then Just Losing Weight

There's more to losing belly fat then cutting calories, or cutting certain foods from our diet. We need to understand how our bodies manage fat, how we handle calorie cutting, and how exercises effects us. Most people don't realize that cutting calories can actually make your body hold onto fat. By reducing intake of calories our bodies feel as if they're going into starvation mode, there by holding onto fat for reserves.

It's not all about the diet

I know a lot of you that may have gone on diets before might dis-agree with me, but it's not all about the diet when you're attempting to lose weight. Diets in fact can contribute to the horrid yo-yo effect that so many dieters find themselves in.

When we go on a diet we in turn lose fat, how ever with that we also lose muscle unless we keep up or increase our exercise regime to build new muscle. This means we weigh less but are weaker over all. So when you're told to diet and exercise at the same time it's not just to help accelerate the weight loss it's to ensure you're health and safety as well.

Build Muscle

To ensure you're not just whittling away your muscle and belly fat it's important to exercise regularly and consistently when you're dieting. Walking is good, but getting into some higher impact workouts at home (you don't need equipment) will ensure that you're maintaining muscle mass, and cutting away the fat.

Simple exercises are the answer

Exercises like pilates and yoga offer low impact, low cost advantages to exercising at home. While you might not think an activity like pilates can burn belly fat, trust me it can. The same goes for yoga. If you're someone who likes working out consider a home gym alternative such as a exercise band kit, or even aerobic workout video.

I've always enjoyed walking/jogging, combined with some pilates and yoga you need to do what feels right for you and works.

Stay Focused and realize it takes work

A lot of us feel pumped up about starting a new diet, usually because of the expectations we have that DIET A will bring us to point B which is small and skinny. How ever what it doesn't tell you about how to lose belly fat is that there's a good chance you could gain the weight back. Without a long term plan, and understanding of how our body works, and what it means to lose weight naturally we could be doomed to yo-yo forever.
