Now there's a question! I'll be honest with you - there isn't a simple answer. I know that, because I used to ask myself the same thing. There are many variables involved, and every person is different. Your build, your fitness, your metabolism, and most important your own personal feelings - they all play a part in determining your ideal weight. Let's look at a couple of these in more detail, before we find out how you can determine your "ideal weight", and look at some of the ways you can change your weight.
Your build has probably the greatest impact on how much you should weigh. Unfortunately, if you have a large bone structure, then you'll never achieve a sylph-like figure, and to be honest, if you did get that thin, it wouldn't look right. You have to be realistic - some people are just bigger built than others. I'm 5'10", which is tall for a woman, and I have quite an athletic physique, so I know I'll never look like Kate Moss, but I have managed to achieve a body shape I'm happy with.
Your fitness levels will affect your weight greatly too - quite often, if people start going to the gym to lose weight, they end up gaining weight instead! This is due to the simple fact that muscle weighs more than fat. If you exercise a lot, fat will be replaced by muscle - but although you gain weight, you will look and feel thinner, which is of course more important than what the scales say!
Before you ask "how much should I weigh", think about the more important question, which is "am I happy with the way I am?". If you can answer that question honestly, you'll have a greater understanding of what you have to do to achieve your body-shape goals.
