Do You Know How to Apply Your Blusher Properly?
By Kim Snyder

Most women are confused about where and how to apply their blusher, if this is you please read on. Blusher can be one of the most under-used product that is so easy to apply if you know what you are doing. Adding blusher can wake your face up by giving it a natural glow which happens to be the sign of good health.

As you well know, blusher comes in many different types and colors. The most popular types of blusher are powder, cream, gel and stick or a combination of any of the four.

Depending on the look and feel when you go to apply your blusher will have you decide which works best for you. If you have mature skin or may run a bit drier, a cream blush will work well for you. It's simple to apply by just using your finger tips or sponge. Smile and then apply the cream blusher to your cheeks apple then blend it out towards your ear following your cheek bone. Cream blusher can give anyone a warm and natural glow.

But if your skin tends to be oilier then cream blusher may not the answer for you. There is help for that if you really do enjoy your cream blusher.

Try this tip:

Apply your cream blush then go over it with a light face powder and then a powder blusher in the same shade. Extra steps sure, but if you want your blusher to having staying powder, then the extra steps helps it stay longer.

Gel blusher is usually used by the younger crowd and just seems to stay on their cheeks longer. But it helps if you powder it just in case because it's more of a strain then a true color. It makes it look as if the color radiates from within.

With the latest crop of blushers some so sheer that most women can get away with almost any shade under the sun. As a general rule, those with cooler skin tones look best in rosy pinks and berries. Olive complexions are most flattered with apricots and rusty reds.

Because powder blusher is the most common used there are tips to use when applying it.

Number one tip:

Don't bother using those little handle brushes that may come with your powder blusher. They are almost useless because of their size which can make them very hard to work with. Your better choice is a long handle brush created just for application of blusher.

How does one apply your powder blusher? It's easiest if you use a large, fluffy natural bristle brush. These type of brushes are almost the same size as your foundation brush. With a long handle, it makes it easy to work with, the reason why you should avoid those that came with your blusher.

Most of all you want to avoid streaks which are a common problem if you have not applied your blusher correctly. To stop this from happening first off tap off your blusher brush or even blow on if you like to remove any excess.

Add your color gently so as not to add too much. There are two ways of doing it depending on what works for you. First off smile so that the apples of your cheeks are visible. With powder blusher brush the color over your apples then blend the remaining color on the brush up towards your ears. You can add it going just one way out towards your ear across your cheekbone or you can lightly add it with gentle back and forth strokes.

You may want to pick one color for daytime wear and one that's a bit more dramatic for evenings.

There you go, a few tips about types of blushers that are out there as well as how to use them. Take the time to find the color that works best for your skin tone and don't forget to wear it everyday! The simplest look ever is just mascara, blusher and lip gloss and out the door you go to enjoy the day!
