Absolutes are almost like essential oils; the only difference between them is that absolutes carry more complex method of extraction. Essential oil is generally extracted by means of steam distillation in which there is a need of intense heat. And, extracting oil from delicate flower is really very difficult because intense heat can destroy the natural fragrance and aroma of the flower. So, a unique process of extracting oil has been developed to detain the aroma and fragrance of delicate natural part of herbs or flower (from which oil is to be extracted). This process doesn't involve heat or water etc. And, when oil is extracted by using this unique process then it is termed as absolute rather than essential oil.

Absolutes are stronger than essential oils. Thus, there is no need to take it in large quantity. Absolutes are highly concentrated. So, sometimes people can be allergic to them. Absolutes play an important role in fragrance and perfume industry.
